OUR STORY
Retiring to the Highlands was a far-off dream of ours. Then working from home become a reality and the opportunity to start living our dream before we got (too) old and wrinkly presented itself - and, of course, we took it!
So, in November 2021 we piled our kids, pets, and house plants in the family car, with a couple of removal vans behind us and set off in chase of a new, slower, and more sustainable life in the Scottish Highlands.
THE HOMESTEAD
From humble beginnings on an old stone, railway track, we're slowly building a green space full of flowers, food, and life. Our homestead is still a journey, rather than a destination.
THE COTTAGE
It turns out that the good life is not necessarily a cheap life (building it at least)! It became apparent early in our journey that we'd need to let the cottage out in order to fund our dream here. So, dear ol' dad moved into the main house with us, and we set about transforming the cottage for short-term holiday usage.
If you have any feedback, or suggestions on how we can further improve the cottage, please do let us know!
"Lovely & peaceful getaway with a very short drive into town. The place was very cosy but spacious with all the amenities available that you could think of. Stephanie was very helpful & responsive. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again if we got the chance ☺️"
"Stephanie's place is great for a country side retreat. It has all amentities you need, warm enough in the winter, beautiful surroundings, as well as high speed internet. There is a nice footpath along the canal to Fort Augustus and a nearby bus station. We really enjoyed our stay."
!Thank you for a warm and great hospitality. My family and I enjoyed our stay here even though it was only for a night. Your place is beautiful, cozy, and super clean! I also love the surroundings as it is so peaceful and calm.
Would definitely stay here again.!
